The best two weeks of our lives...really! We had the best time with the BEST people (Trainers: Toby, Bob,
Megan, and Meghan). We are now sufficiently terrified to open our own coffee house (terrified, but
armed with tools to mask it!)
September 16-27, 2002

So we brewed coffee like the pros - in little Pyrex bowls, no filter, no cream, no sugar, no warning of what we were getting into! Mmmm...mmm...good! But I liked my idea of "cupping" better! Jen had a slightly different experience. Her palate is slightly less sophisticated.

Krista and Brent..."does it go...lima, pinto, stuffing? Or styrofoam, pinto, lima?" Woo hoo! Beans are good for Marc! (um....don't drink that, mmm-k?)

After mastering drip coffee - they actually allowed us to touch the espresso machine! Watch out!
Hmmmm...milk on the ceiling - how'd THAT get there? Hey, this ain't easy!

The moment of truth - can he steam milk, or will he burn milk (smells so good!). Gus and Gus - workin' side by side - a soon to be familiar sight! (You steam - I pull shots) This photo was taken just moments before the milk actually caught on fire (Jen had to stay after class).
Two outta three IAG trainees agree...iced blended mochas are good for your tummy! Marc - whipping the boys into shape!

Oh, yeah...now that you can make the stuff, wanna learn how to sell it? Wanna learn how to be
successful? Wanna learn how to kick the "Evil Green Giants'" butt? Well, for that sort of expertise, you
will have to turn to the Retail Doctor aka Bob Phibbs! Now this man has got the MAD skillz!

There are no snappy photos of these sessions as we were madly scribbling notes on how to build a coffee empire! I could put up a copy of my notes if you like? Oh yeah, whatever you do, DON'T fall asleep or you will be thwapped with a Koosh ball.
And here's the magician himself!

So...after 2 weeks of mixing, blending, stirring, foaming, steaming, pulling, cleaning,
(and cleaning, and cleaning), grinding, and cupping (tee hee hee)...we GRADUATED!

...and yes, just to be clear, we are wearing coffee sacks and filter caps! The gracious Louise (co-founder) handing Marc his diploma.

The plans are back from the architect, the contractors are bidding,
and loan approval is on the horizon. Hand us some hard hats!
